I got a new 07 camry worth about 30k but not even a week after i got it, I crashed into a brick mailbox. The front in was totally smashed and it was smoking a little and the car was in the air proped on the remainder of the mailbox. But the rest of the body work looked ok
I know it was totally my fault because of lack of attention. What do the chances are of it being totaled?

Ask the adjustor who is reviewing the claim. Companies look at the amount of damage (in dollars) and measure it as a percentage of the car's actual cash value (ACV). Note that ACV is what the car is worth as an undamaged USED car, not what you paid for it or what was on the window sticker. If the amount of damage is over a certain percentage (for example 70%), the company may consider it totaled, but keep in mind that every insurance company is different.

If your car is really worth $30k as a USED 07 Camry, and your insurance company uses 70% of ACV as its guide, your damage will need to be around $21k (70% of 30k) before it is considered totaled.

If the damage only goes as far back as the radiator/condensor (they are in front- behind the bumper- kinda looks like filtertype thing) you are going to be ok. Esp since you didnt mention any airbag deployment. With a car that new and with that high of value (I actually just looked it up on NADA and you should expect less than 30k) unless the engine has been pushed back into the body of the car- i think you are far from totalling.

Porbably zero chance. Even if there is $12,000.00 worth of damage that's less than 60% of the value (not payoff). You will be far better off repairing the car vs totaling. Keep in mind that you have already lost 20% of the value of your vehicle (the second you drove it off the lot) and your insurance will only pay ACV (actual cash value) if it totals. Select the best body repair shop in town -- if repaired properly you will have no regrets.

i think of it incredibly is totally probably: by using asserting that the "trunk is long gone...the aspects are bent" style of exhibits that your Acura would have rendered a tendency physique contained in the composition of the motor vehicle. Bent frames could be adjusted to it incredibly is centred settings, although, many coverage firms deem it totaled because of the cost of readjusting the physique. it incredibly is an high priced and intensely long technique because of the fact of meticulous detailing.

If it's smoking, then you broke the radiator, suggesting it was a very hard hit. My aunt's car got totaled and it didn't look that bad. So there's a pretty big chance that your car is indeed totaled.

If the cost of repair is more that 55% of the value of the car, the insurance co. will probably total it.

I'd say they're not good chances that it will be totaled, but you'll have to check with the adjuster.
