there is a special coating/sealant sprayed on engine parts and body of ever SR-72 Blackbird that reduces heat friction as it flies this also allows it to work well to jam radar stations with it's ECM or Electronic Counter Measures as well since most of em trace engine heat and wind displacement patterns as it moves to trace airplanes by type through the sky and make it less audibly visual to sonar and incoming ear traffic as it flies by

The finished aircraft was painted a dark blue (almost black) to increase the emission of internal heat (since fuel was used as a heat sink for avionics cooling) and to act as camouflage against the sky.

The aircraft was originally supposed to be painted pink, but the Air Force did not want to fly a pink plane so they painted it the cobalt blue you see it in. Supposedly a pink plane (while possessing great camoflauge in both day and night and good heat shedding characteristics) was not macho enough for the Air Force.

The color does not reduce friction. Any additives may. The leading edges that are in the main airstream are ceramic.

thats whats know as a military secret. thats a special blend of paint used to disperse heat and friction build up, but the concept has been around for years, in the kitchen its called teflon coating on your frying pans etc

Because it is a scientific fact that darker colors radiate more heat than lighter colors.
