I feel like everyone hates me!!! My parents use me, and never seem to see what i do for them.?

Question

I have stayed home to help with two family business's that I run from home, at least the business part, they handle the labor. Its two very successful restaurants, and even when I go visit I provide excellent customer service from the minute I walk in to the minute I leave. Not to mention legal issues like workers comp cases and all the vendors. They don't pay me money, but they do provide my room, in the house we all live in that I am expected to maintain and run as well. Paying bills, cleaning, cooking, laundry, and all the while I have to care for my adult disabled sister. My car was trashed by my little brother becouse he was mad. And they don't feel like they should fix it. They tell me to buy a new one. Yeah hello you don't pay me. Now all of a sudden they want me to pay rent, or leave. I would love to but they have handicapped me I feel, by not allowing me to leave when i wanted to. I had a good job and a good positive future. Did I ruin my life by listening to them????

I would really like to thank everyone for there answers, I was thinking that maybe i was wrong in feeling like they take advantage of me, but I see that I'm just thinking normal thoughts. And I do plan to get myself up and out of here, but taking my sister, can't bare to think that she'd be hungry or might need something. Thank you again to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

Man it seems like your the back bone of the house hold with out you things would fall apart and oyu should remind them of that! if your don't want to pay tthe rent and prove tot hem how much they need you move out but not permanent(if you like living at hime) move in with a buddy for a little while just to show them how much you do before long they'll pay YOU to come back!

For some reason, your parents don't see the value that you put into the home and there business.. I believe you should move on with your life. Find a job that pays you good, save money and move out. Make a plan of how you plan to transition from your parents house to a place of your own with a good job. Think about all the obstable that can prevent you from moving on (like your disable sister needing a caretaker after you leave). Remember, you need a reliable job and money before you move on your own. Also, remember that these are your parents. If you decide to move on with your life, try to keep it as positive as posible.
