Not if you are driving into the States. THat will not go into effect till Jan 2008. But if you fly in, you will need to show your passport starting in Jan 2007

You dont need a passport to travel between states in the U.S.

i am from the UK but visited the states last year. i travelled from boston to new england and then to new york in a car and didnt need my passport for that.

if you are from canada or mexico and you are a citizen of that country you dont need a passport yet! but if you are from another country you need one , you might get thru without one but if they stop you and check and you cant prove your address in that country ,they wont allow you in the usa

I believe it depends where you're driving from. From Mexico or Canada, yes, but between states, no. It's always good to carry some piece of picture ID on you in any case.

as of this second no. but starting in jan. 2007 you will need one to cross the border no matter how you do it. (air or car) so i would suggest getting one right away, the waiting time will increase as people become more aware of this.

it is always best to be prepared.

so if you one take it. if not then go and see. I think they are starting to enforce passports form all countries and that includes Canada.

I dont believe so until 2008, unless there are laws in the country you are coming from.
