Go to Walmart or a large grocery store in your area. I'd try Walmart first, if there's one near you. Make sure you have your id! They probably will cash the check for you at the customer service desk, but will likely charge you a small fee. At other grocery stores, ask the customer service desk first, cuz they'll tell you about how much you'll need to spend on groceries in order to cash your check at the check-out stand. Usually it's not too much, a small percent of your check. Otherwise, if you know someone in your family has money on them, show the person your check, (so they'll know it's for real), and see if you can borrow a bit from them just until Monday when you can cash the check. Then be SURE to pay the person back first thing, or they probably won't want to ever do that again. ;) On Monday when you can get to the bank, try to open at least a savings account and get a ATM card, then you won't have to go thru this again next time you get paid.

To endorse a paycheck you sign the back of it.

If you need to cash it, some grocery stores will do so. I know for a fact that Wal-Marts in my area do cash checks. Call around and see if you can find a store whose customer service counter will do it.

Endorse the check "Pay to the order of (friends name here)". Then sign your name. When he take the check to his bank, he will have to sign below your name. He can expect his bank to hold the funds until the check has cleared. It is unlikely they will allow him to cash a 'third party' check.

BTW: Third party means your friend is not the original payee or payer.

you can actually just sign your name on the back of the check where it says "endorse here" and take it to the bank, they usually are willing to trade if for money which they give you, and take out of the account of your employer, which is how paychecks work.

It depends on what part of the country you are in, but there are places called currency exchanges that cash checks. Also, places such as grocery stores, Amscot and the like.
