I don't know if this helps or not but my vet told me that you have to get your cat neutered before he is 6months old that is the only thing to keep them from spraying .Male cats will spray to mark their territory . you might want to talk to your vet and see if he can reccomend any thing to get rid of the smell . I have had clothes ruined before from cat urine I am sorry I could not help you more . But believe me I feel for your situation .

Please take him to a vet to rule out urinary tract problems, which are very common in older males. If that's it, there's hope. If not, you've got a cat who is losing his incredible sense of smell and can't smell his own odor on you anymore. He sprays to leave his odor on the the things he "owns", including you. He used to be able to smell the scent he leaves when he rubs the glands in his cheeks against the furniture and your clothes, but now his world doesn't smell right anymore and he's just trying to feel safe.
There's not much you can do other than contain the cat in one room when you're out of the house and be prepared to spray him with water if he does it in front of you.

i have a male cat that was neutered and never quit spraying until i moved him outside. cat pee is one of the odors that lingers on for years, very hard to get out of your personal items. maybe a good idea to move him out doors.

it could just be him getting older and forgetting, you should see a vet to be sure its not an infection or any of that jazz.
he could jsut be mad about something, litter brand perhaps?
but, i'd still check with a vet to be sure.

He's marking you as "his". Every time you shower (not that I'm saying don't shower!) the scent is covered up. He's just being proprietary.
