I'm not. I think it would be better if it was legalized so things would be safer for women in that line of work.

I think some women feel that way, but I doubt that it would be true. A lot of men are put off by the idea of prostitutes because of the disease factors, and they would probably like the legalization because they would be safer: the ladies would be tested regularly and be up on all the latest in disease control. And so for a brief period, perhaps, married men might experiment with this avenue of relief from boredom. But chances are they would learn things there which would improve their relations with their wives, and then the rate would go down.
Anything illegal is less attractive to a segment of the population when it becomes legal. They were in it for the risk factors and the additional money that comes with it being illegal (the pimps and pushers who use illegal prostitutes as objects). So after the initial party was over, guys would realize that it's just another service, and get bored with the prostitutes! Then there would start to be many fewer of them, as the service provided, essentially "surrogate partner therapy," would be less needed. And girls would not have to push themselves to the limits because of drugs, because legal prostitutes would inevitably be tested for drugs as well.
Face it, throughout history prostitutes have been mostly for the guys who simply can't get any other woman.

I believe this friend girl of yours is a serious minority in this reasoning. I agree that legal prostituion would help lower the rape rate in America. I believe a womans body is her own to do with as she chooses. It is the oldest profession, and as long as there are men on earth, there will always be a living to be made from it. With legalization, the disease rate will decrease with mandatory medical coverage, the government would get their money from a taxable business. It would take women off the streets, out of danger of pimps, drugs and serial killers and who knows what else.
Quite frankly, I'm not seeing one negative aspect in legalizing prostitution. Seems to me that if a person is going to cheat, they're going to cheat, regardless.

Look at Holland, Germany or Japan - prostitution is legal, it's easy to get porno and hardly any women get raped. Here in prudish America it's a crime to go to a hooker (the New York police shot a man 50 times just 2 weeks ago during a prostitution raid at a strip club!) porno is restricted - and we have more rapes than anywhere else!
We need to loosen up, America! Legalized prostitution and porn on prime time network TV - that will cut down on all the rapes!

Men and women are going to cheat wether its legal or not I dont think that is where the problem is, also prostitution is going to happen whether its legal or not. I personaly dont feel that sex should happen for the exchange of money. If people are going to have sex there should be a better reason than for money.....

some people think that legalization is akin to moral approval. therefore legalizing prostitution would lend credence to the belief that it was a good thing to do. while it would not change the fact that cheating on your mate is cheating. it may make it more readily available to some a method of cheating. if i don't trust my partner i find something lacking in the relationship that i will not accept. so i'd say women who don't trust their mates might be afraid of it

I think prostitution SHOULD be legalized.
A woman(or man ;D) should be able to do what she wants to her body, and if it was like it is in Nevada, it would be much safer for the women.
I'm not afraid of anything as stupid as that.
And seriously, if the guy does that to her, I guess he just wasn't right for her.

That is BS about the rape rate being lower. And if you knew anything about rape, you would know it has nothing to do with sex, but with power and control. HTH : )

they don't want to legalize it here because hookers are carrying diseases they use drugs. The goverment doesn't want to risk a young boy wanting to lose his virginity quick to end up with aids. Have morals sex should not be bought, it should be shared with your lover get it love-r someone u love. would u like to find out u impregnated a hooker and she keeps it wow it could ruin your life for something you could have waited for with a special person, we're not animals you know?
