I have heard you can put them in a brown bag or slice them and put in the microwave. Any good ideas on how to quickly ripen Avocadoes whole or cut?

FIRST OFF don't ever cut open an avocado that hasn't ripened, it will turn brown, look terrible and still be to hard to eat. this is what you do put two or three un-ripened avocados in a paper bag with a banana, the banana lets off gases that will speed up the ripening process, if there's no banana in the house just seal them in a paper bag and leave on the kitchen countertop, check on everyday you don't want them getting to soft, a good way to check is to push your thumb into the outer skin if the indentation stays there its ready to be eaten

The avocado needs to be kept in the dark (hence the brown paper bag). Ripening proceeds more quickly at room temperature or SLIGHTLY warmer (don't cook it). Ripe apples and ripe bananas give off ethylene gas, which hastens the ripening of other fruit (this is the principle of the fruit bowl). If you include some ripe apples and/or bananas with your avocados in your brown paper bag, seal the opening of the bag (to increase the concentration of gas), leave them in a warm, dark, dry (to prevent mould) place you will have done everything possible to accelerate the ripening of your avocados.

#1. it will never ripen in one day. you have to purchase it that way.

#2. a brown paper bag on the counter overnite, do not add any
other fruit.

#3. unless it is totally raw, it should be soft and ripe in 24 hours.
if not, leave it in the bag on the counter until it is.

Never refridgerate it unless it is ripened. this works for me!
good luck

Avos ripen fairly quickly. I would not cut them, just leave them on the kitchen counter & rotate them.

Put it in a paper bag with an apple. It will still take a day or two.
