Honestly, its really hard to say without seeing a picture but 5'1" and 105lbs does seem a bit heav for a ballerina. Ballerinas are generally very, VERY slender and 105lbs is about average for a person who is 5'1". It all depends, it is certainly possible for her to be a very successful ballerina with alot of practice and as long as she maintains a constant weight she should be fine. That is where the main problem lies in being a ballerina, because what they do is very balance oriented so gaining weight can throw off her whole sense of balance.

That is fine. There are a lot of people out there that probably wish they weighed that much. Tell your friend not to worry so much about her weight, and that 105 is fine to become a ballerina.

105 lbs, 5'1" is absolutely perfect for a for a 13 year old. Unfortunately, and sadly, it is about maximum for a ballerina and she's still young. If she wants to be a professional ballerina, she is facing a serious dilemma with staying intensely skinny and ever-present anorexia or bulimia. I was a dancer and it was my soul, but it wasn't worth harming myself over. She really needs to consider if this is a pressure she wants to deal with just for the sake of dancing. She may wish to consider modern dance. It is much more flexible with body size.

105 is a healthy weight, and being that she's a ballerina means that extra weight comes from all that muscle.

I don't think so. There are height-weight charts available with ranges you can check, but I think 105 lb is within the "not fat" range. It would help to have a real document available; you don't need to recruit candidates for anorexia.

each body type is different, but 105 is not much at all, especially if it is mostly muscle...don't let her fixate on it, too many girls do and develop eating disorders. if she is refusing to eat, or not eating a balance diet, or eating and throwing up, she may really have a problem. there is nothing wrong with watching your weight and eating low calorie foods, but your body needs a certain amount of fat and carbohydrates to work properly, too.

No, definitely not. A lot of ballerinas develop anorexia due to the demand to be too thin. If you are concerned about her health and safety, talk to her parents.

NO! and the fact that she's all muscle is very good, cuz fat takes up much more space! (if you know what i mean)
muscle is more compressed, but either way that weight is good for a 13 year old.
