If you can tell the difference between the "good guys" and "Bad guys" just by looking at them you need to come over with us and point out who's who. As far as your rag tag comment those jokers have been doing what they do for years. They train themselves, and get training from foreign militaries to do what they do and they get support from organizations and other countries around them.. There are so many people that do not want to see the US succeed. Most Americans are still wearing their rose colored glasses and do not realize that the rest of the world hates us and loves to see us hurt.

This due in part to the fact that the liberal part of our country is so upset when a civilian is killed. They have put handcuffs on the way the military is supposed to fight. You are not allowed to return fire if it is coming from a group of civilians, esp women and children. So now what is the soldier supposed to do? They either die or retreat. Remember the uproar about the Israeli's and the Hezbollah's and how the press and liberals would rant "ohh, those poor civilian and those nasty Israelis!" They wouldn't listen to the fact that the enemy had their weapons hidden in the midst of civilian targets shooting at military targets. It doesn't matter how great an army or military you have, if the politicians try to run the military without having the knowledge, they will screw it up just like they do everything else.

Why would you think we could ever fight a war without taking casualties? In what war has that ever happened? There IS a U.S. because of a rag-tag bunch of insurgents fighting the world's most powerful army. And that was a much more straightforward proposition. The British were not taking casualties by trying to break up fights between groups of Americans shooting at each other, and they were much less sensitive to a modest level of casualties.

The insurgents are combating in prevalent sorroundings with ideas for the protection of the city. It does not be counted how stable a stress is; the technique concerns. capability and length at the instant are not each thing in protection stress campaigns. i know for a reality that the Marines are attempting their toughest to end the combat. additionally, the ROE (regulations of Engagement) are very confusing to stick to in that form of ecosystem. maximum civilians carry weapons, the insurgents dress like the civilians, some insurgents do no longer carry weapons, and a few civilians are spies or forward observers for the insurgents. The insurgents even use civilians as conceal! it relatively is going to be a confusing venture to end.

Insurgent leadership realized the same thing realized by Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam... that the war will not be won or lost on the battlefield, it will be won or lost in the hearts and minds of Americans.

Insurgents in Iraq have never won an engagement against a U.S. or allied unit, and if you go strictly by attrition numbers (i.e. combatants killed or injured), the insurgency is losing very, very badly. Truth is, they don't need to win. They just have to stick around. If they can create enough unrest, get enough high-profile media attention, and deepen division within the U.S. voting public, they know full well they can drive the U.S. out. Terrorists don't need military victories. All they really need to do is get enough liberals elected.

Insurgent victories don't occur on the battlefield in Iraq, they occur in the U.S. on election day. Think about that next time you vote.

You can have the most powerful missile system in the world, but its worthless if you do not have a target. We have a conventional army fighting an unconventional army. We are fighting unseen enemies in villiages and they look like civilians untill boom! You lost a hummer.

We also are not fighting with nearly enough soldiers. To much country for the force we have. We are doing a 'green zone' fighting style by only deploying to one sector and letting the others go unchecked for a long period of time. Borders need to be patrolled, and the tap of foreign dollars, weapons, and man power needs to be shut off. Most of all, we need a competent Iraqi army that is not riddled with traitors.

Because the military has not adjusted to the real facts of the war they are fightning. Does our military leaders really expect the enemy to be so stupid as to put an X on their backs. Why has our military leaders not adjusted to the reality of this war? Why are they still trying to fight this war the same as we did in the past? I thought our military was the best, yet it seems so rigid and unwilling to adapt.

One cannot reliably identify a combatant based on that person's religious ideology. Radical Islamics are not physically identifiable. If we cannot identify a combatant based on sight, it is going to be difficult to remove that combatant.

Locking the borders of Iraq and the use of Biometric passports for the purpose of reliable identification would help. The strategies are available to insure a satisfactory win in Iraq. The real question is this. Do we have the balls to do what is needed to win? Usama Bin Laden said we don't, and if you base your views on what you see here on Y!A, he was right.

This makes my heart ache horribly.

Because our troops are traind to fight other troops who play by the so-called rules. Since the insurgents don't play by the so-called rules they gain a small tactical advantage.

Thanks to the uber-liberals without a clue, such as yourself, that emboldens this enemy, these ragtags gain hope.

They are not truly putting a 'hurting' on our military. They are putting a 'hurting' on their own country, with the prevention of the free government from doing what it has to do without undue resistance.
