Dogs are generally considered to be lactose intolerant.milk usually causes upset stomachs and diarrhea.Your better off getting a replacement formula made specifically for dogs.

NO, cow's milk is not nutritionally complete for puppies. You can cause serious damage (like cataracts) if you give them cow's milk. You need to use puppy milk replacer (Esbilac or other brand names) to raise puppies. Of course Mom's milk is the best, but obviously something is wrong with mom or you wouldn't be asking about supplementing. If the pups are old enough (eyes open and teeth coming in) you could also try putting canned puppy food in a blender with and equal amount of water and making a "slurry" that they could either take through a bottle or from a bowl.

Good luck!

You'd be much better off going to a pet store and buying puppy formula. It's not very expensive, and is nutritionally formulated for puppies. I wouldn't recommend cow's milk for dogs.

Just curious, is there a reason these pups have been separated from the mother dog so early? Eight weeks is certainly best for them...

Never give milk to a puppy, go to the pet store and get puppy supplement. It has all the stuff in it that your puppy needs.

I wouldn't, since you figure the milk that they get from their mothers have a lot of nutrients they need especially at such a young age. I would go to a pet store and buy puppy formula suitable for your puppy.

No, you need to make a mix. For every cup of whole milk you should add one egg yolk and a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Put this in a baby bottle and make sure you strain it with a car filter first (the egg will clog the bottle). Feed your puppy every hour. This puppy is much to young the be away from its mother and will probably have HUGE temperament issues when older because they learn how to act around people for their mother. Eight weeks of age is the MIN. they can leave. People say six weeks because they can eat solid food, but their mother still teaches them lots in the last two weeks. Mine don't go home until ten weeks to be sure! Email me if you need any more help ahoback@sasktel.net. Make sure you allow them to eat off their mother as much as possible because they get antibodies to fight infections from her. Just bottle feed to top them of and make sure to weigh them everyday on a baby scale to make sure they are all gaining weight.

Nah. Get some dog milk formula. You live near a Walmart? I know they have it. I'm raising up 5 half rottweiler half chow puppies by hand myself because their mother (my grandma's dog) got hit by a car. You know how to make it go to the bathroom, right?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO go to a pet store or a vet and get the kind of milk that has all the minerals and nut that they need. They are still way to small for that and plus it might upset them
