Anybody care to try and quantify the amount of electric that lighting up a house with external xmass lights uses. A guess at the countries extra usage? some kind of equivelant so we can visualise the extra carbon footprint over say 3 weeks of xmas.

1 60 story skyscraper uses and wastes more electric fuel and water that an average suburban town. Corporations leave lights and computers on because it is a tax deduction. So dont worry about low wattage xmas lights, worry about the bs that we are all fed by the feds.

If it make's people happy to light up their houses for three week's , so what .There are people wasting electricity every day of the week .Would it not make more sense to be economical all through the year and use that bit extra at christmas .

It is already taken care of. Did your teacher tell u about photosynthesis? Our good friends the plants will take in all the CO2 that we produce. Plants need CO2 as much as we do oxygen.

I was wondering that very thing this afternoon when I saw the ridiculous number of decorations my neighbours have put up.

yes but its easy that way to divert some electricity from the garden of my neighbours; never had big bills in December!
