My cat needs help! I don'lt have money for the vet! I spent 350.00 to get a urine catheter and brought him home about the 5th of December. He's been taking clavamox 62.5 mg but yesterday he started to vomit and hasn't eaten since! It's Sunday and no one will see us without some cash on hand - can anyone help? Oh yeah, I called the tech yesterday and he said it's probably due to the medicine and to call him before 4 (yesterday) if he has trouble urinating but it wasn't until after 5 that this started! PLEASE HELP.

It could certainly be the Clavamox upsetting the cat's stomach, we saw it all the time at my vets. But, since your cat was obstructed and needed a catheter, you don't want to stop antibiotics altogether, so you really need to call your vet. Maybe stop them for today, but get him seen tomorrow.

I would be hesitant to try any herbs without checking with your vet since some animals don't respond to them like humans do.

Our vets always say with vomiting to take away all food and water for 12-24 hours to give the stomach time to rest, then start with a bland diet (ask your vet for recommendations) and see how it goes.

I'm with Annie on this one. It is best that he fast for 24 hours. I have never had a problem with a cat on clavamox throwing up.

Slippery elm is a "nutritive herb that heals, soothes, and nourishes the inflamed digestive tract. 1 capsule twice a day. Mix in warm water or chicken broth. Give at time of feeding." Roger DeHaan, DVM. Slippery elm capsules are available in health food stores.

"fast ...the start the animal back on something bland, such as baby food." Jean Hovfe, DVM. Baby food should be chicken or turkey or lamb. It must contain NO onion (very toxic to cats) or garlic. Stage one Gerber's has no additives.

IF HE IS NOT URINATING it is a medical emergency as he can die from renal toxicity in 48 hours.

Yes, not only am I an animal lover but I am an herbalist so I recommend a big bowl of Cat-Nip tea get the plant at Wal-Mart for 5$ and just boil for 5 minutes let it cool down and serve it, it well love it! But this could be deadly!

If his stomach is upset from the Clavamox, just stopping it will help his stomach. Don't give him any food, or any herbal tea, for that matter. When he feels better, he will start eating again. If he has a urinary tract obstruction, nothing short of a catheter will help him, and he will die without it. good Luck!!
