i am no expert in this field but think caution is always a mother or dads concern with any child that is in those early teen years dealing with drugs and sex peer preasure. I dont think there ages are to far apart to worry about but think any parent needs to (regardless how embarrassing) should have the birds and bees talk with any child and make sure that child knows that it is OK to come to you WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR PROBLEMS REGARDLESS of the nature knowing that if they are honest with the truth about the problem or even question you will not get all parent on then forbidding them to do things they might get to do if they never asked. Now if your girl was 10 and he was 17 I would not allow that, not much difference between 14 and 16. I would consider that normal. Just like you have the talk with her about the monthly period thing with no embarrassment you need to address sex and drugs PERIOD.

Actually a 14 and 16 yr old being interested in each other isn't so strange...especially if the chick is the younger one...girls tend to mature a bit faster than boys, so with that age gap they might be on the same maturity level (or close to it)...
She's too young to really be "dating" though, but most of us had "boyfriends" or "girlfriends" even in grade school...long before we were allowed to date one-on-one...

Yes but she may be more mature than most 14 year olds. if they were 22 and 20 there would be no problem and 2 years is not a big gap.

no i do not as a matter of fact i never dated anyone my age either they were all older. For a girl its kinda more like the older boys are more mature and its kinda cool to say my boyfriend is in high school.
