Well Abigail, that depends on what you want a car for. All you'll have to decide is what car, whether it's a sedan or coupe, or SUV, or sub-compact, compact, midsized, full sized, meets most of your needs.

Now I'm way to practical to give you a good answer to your question, but here are things to consider before you pick out a car.

What are you driving now? Does it meet your needs? Will it still meet your needs 5 years from now when it is paid off?

What are you currently paying for insurance with you current car? Is your insurance going to increase or decrease with the car you buy? Is your driving record good enough to allow you to get the lowest rate no matter whether the car is a sedan or sports car?

How much are you spending on gas with your current vehicle? What is EPA's estimated gas mileage? Will your new vehicle cost you more in gasoline or less in gasoline?

How easy is it to maintain the car you currently own? Is maintaining the new car over the 5 years that you will own it worth it? Does it the new vehicle have a timing belt that will need to be changed or a chain that doesn't. Are tires for this new car popular and inexpensive, or will you be paying a mint when you need new tires?

What is the relative 'cool factor' of the car you're currently driving? Is the cool factor of the new car important? Will it be just as important in 5 years? Do people really care that you drive a cool car? Will they help you keep it looking cool if you can't afford to yourself? Will the cool factor of this new car cause it to be a target to get stolen?

I hope these questions can help you make a decision. You can research everything I've mentioned, except for cool factor at edmunds.com.

BTW, I drive a 2003 Saturn SUV. No cool factor at all, but I don't spend much money driving it, insuring it, or maintaining it. And it meets my needs.

Good luck

A mustang is not a sports car unless you get a GT. The Charger is a real sports car. Better yet a 1971 charger :)

do yourself a favor and check out some of the foreign cars. try looking at a toyota camry or honda accord. if you finance a charger it will be worth half of what you paid for it after about a year. i wouldn't recommend ford either because they're in a financial crisis. look for them to go under in about 5 years. the impalas are supposed to be decent vehicles, but i say a toyota or honda because if you financed one of those for 5 years, it will still be worth a bundle when it's paid for. they definately hold a value and are extremely reliable. look up the value of a 2002 base camry sedan with decent mileage. it's $20000 new and still worth $12000 after 5 years!!

Buy the V-6,,,,,,,,, automatic transmission,,,,hard top,,, FORD Mustang and you will be carefree for years ---all you gotta do is change the oil and drive easy...it's a good car and a careful drive make for years of enjoyable ownership---the V-6 engine is a proven gas saver and Ford does not have any problems with it and neither will YOU ...(I am not a Ford salesman--I like 'em)

I bought a Toyota Corolla about a year and a half ago, and I love it. My first car when I was 16 was a corolla and now my first new car is a corolla. I think they are great cars, they are not too expensive, the gas mileage is great and they have quite a bit of room in them with nice trunk.

well if you want something reliable get a Toyota of some sort or if you want something cheap and reliable get a Geo Prizm. Hoever if you want a reliable sports car then I suggest maybe a mustang i dont have experience with this car but Ive heard it was pretty good.

I drive an Eagle Talon. They don't make them anymore (Chrysler product) but they're around, and oh will you get lots of attention! It's sort of a cult thing, and besides, they're great cars!

Anyway, that's what I like, but should get what makes you happy.
