Hi. I've been taking 100 mgs. of Lamictal daily to improve problems with hyperactivity and anxiety. I have some side effects that include forgetfulness, loss of energy, and general "blues". I know I should talk to my doctor, but I know this drug is highly tolerated in most people, and am afraid I'll be given something even worse. Any experiences like this? thanks

Lamictal is an anticonvusant used psychiatrically for stabilizing mood. Initial side effects include "loss of energy", which will resolve in several weeks after reaching the optimal dosage. If you have "the blues", your doctor may want to add a low dose of an antidepressant. I've been on 200mg in the morning for 5 years, and do have some forgetfulness. I am able to compensate by writing things down in a pocket-sized notebook; one next to the phone, one on the coffee table, and one in my purse.
I'd rather live with the side-effects than mania or a mixed state!

Abrupt discontinuation of anticonvulsants places you in chance of SEIZURES no matter if you've by no skill had one previously. Plus there is the med withdrawal and a large number of nastiness led to with techniques from abrupt d/c. this is not even taking into interest of set off yet another BD episode or the message it sends for your pdoc. Does Lamictal deal with your BD? if so, perfect ideas are Topicals and/or Antibiotics. Are there any severe adverse consequences? If not, imagine lengthy and hard. a lot of stabilizers make you stupid, make you nauseous, and function different untenuable adverse consequences, plus they could not artwork on your ailment. because you're BDII, provide your self a truth examine: pimples managed with pimples meds OR melancholy. Lamictal is the in elementary words stabilizer that really works properly for melancholy. ~bipolar, on Lamictal, Lithium, and antibiotics - situation solved

You need to talk with your own doctor. This drug very probably has to be weaned off. I strongly suspect stopping it cold turkey would be dangerous. Call your own physician.
