I have a 1 year old female pitbull/shepard mix. When she's in heat she is totally infatuated with my 14 year old female neighbor. She won't leave her alone and cries when she leaves my house. However when she is not in heat she growls at her and keeps her distance. Why is this?????

Why do you have a female 1 year old mixed breed dog that iS NOT FIXED YET? She should be spayed now for her health. If you can't afford it there are places that will take your poor dog and then you can get a gold fish.

Dogs in heat get really clingy at times. There's nothing you can do but wait it out.
