I'm also just starting to train my 3 year old son. What I have been doing is bringing him to the bathroom every 30-45 min (every child is different) he doesn't always let me know when he has to go but when I bring him and he go's I try to make it as rewording as I can. Make him feel good about just having gone tell him he is a Big Boy and Big Boy's go to the pottie. I also bought my son Spongebob under wear and he likes them. I hope everything go's well as hope the same for me (LOL). Keep me posted and let this be an experience for both of us. GOOD LUCK!!

Sit him on the potty and read books with him or just have watch TV. If he sits there long enough something is going to happen. Read books to him about going on the potty.
Also children at that age tend to sneak off when they are going to poop in their diaper. So watch him ,if he goes behind the couch, or into the corner of the room, ask him if he has to poop and then sit him on the potty. Make potty time fun time and if he goes make it a huge deal and tell him what a big boy he is.

WHEN IT WAS TIME TO POTTY TRAIN MY SON, HE WORE THE POTTY CHAIR AS A HAT. IT WAS SUMMER, SO I DIDN'T MAKE HIM WEAR UNDER WARE. HE THOUGHT PEEING OUTSIDE WAS COOL. BUT BREAKING THAT HABIT WAS ALSO VERY HARD. DOES DADDY LET HIM WATCH HOW THE 'BIG BOYS PEE'? MAYBE A LITTLE STEP IN FRONT OF THE 'BIG PEOPLES' POTTY WOULD WORK BETTER. OTHER WISE, WHEN HE IS READY, HE WILL DO SO ON HIS OWN. DON'T YELL OR PUNISH, REWARD AND PRAISE. BRIBES GO ALONG WAY!!! GOOD LUCK.

One idea, is to put cheerios in the toilet and tell him to sink them, my son thought that this was cool, or put food coloring in the toilet and then when he goes it will change colors. Have a little treat jar in the bathroom and everytime he goes, let him pick a treat out of the jar, but only give them to him when he goes, fruit snacks work really well for this.
Just some ideas, hope this helps.
good luck :o)

lead by example...it sounds weird, but show him how it's done and let him know how fun it is to be a grownup...also you can get special diapers that let your son know when he is wet by creating a cool sensation. Just make sure and praise him when he does it right and don't punish when he makes a mistake. Take your time and you'll be fine.
