I am recently divorced and would like to find a good self help book to read...plz don't say the Bible, which is of course, the ultimate. I'm wanting a book geared towards Christians who have gone thru a divorce (even better geared towards women, too.)

Any Suggestions?

I do not want to necessarily exclude other religions, but I was wanting a Christian book, therefore I didn't think a Muslim or Jewish person would know of any offhand. I did not intend to offend, sorry.

I know that you dont' want to here "the bible" but I can asure you that if you pray to the Lord for His help in what you are going through, and read the bible, you will be led towards the healing you need.

God is in the restoration business. All others cannot restore your life the way God can.

What people was Christ speaking to? The Israelites. The application here to Christians is this: If once I am a believer I divorce my wife then I have made her a victim of adultery. If I go and marry a woman who has divorced her husband because she was sexaully immoral, then I am committing adultery with her. The Isrealites routinely divorced their wives for any sort of trumped up reasons, simply in order to marry a younger, more beautiful, woman. Jesus said that we are to take our marriage vows very seriously. We are not to treat our marriage as a trivial thing, something to be cast off when it becomes inconvenient, or troublesome. We must keep in view that there is a confluence of unbelieving, divorced, women and believing, divorced, women. All believers are cautioned against becoming unequally yoked to unbelievers and that must be equally applied in this situation.

I don't know why you specifically said not the Bible when that clearly is the best bood available to help you now. Are you trying to learn how to "get over" the divorce? How to deal with your hurt? What better book than the Bible? The Bible teaches you how to live your life whether you are single, married, divorced or widowed.
As a single woman...a Christain single woman, your first goal still is to be a vessel for God so the Bible is what will help you to be that.

Besides the period of finalizing it. I would say to just live as a christian woman. Make the same decision, actions, etc. Cope with your loss by talking to someone. A book will tell you scriptures, then point these things out. So, save on the cost of a book!
