It seems like your cat's got you right where he wants you, he's
in total control of the situation. Feed him twice a day, and
if he meows for more, ignore him he will get over it, besides,
if he gets any fatter he'll either get heart disease or diabetes.

Remember eating is the highlight of his day, maybe you should
start playing with him to get his mind off food. My 5 year old
male is huge, he eats anything in sight and now he is on
science diet low carb food. Please ignore his cries he will
get over it, stuff cotton in your ears if you can't stand the
meowing, I know what I'm talking about I have eight cat.

Good luck!

If you feed him a good quality canned meat (not anything from the grocery store like Fancy Feast, Whiskas or Friskies) he will lose weight and be much more satisfied and not always crying for food.

Natural Balance has great canned food, not too expensive. Felidae costs more per can as does Nature's Logic or Nature's Organic. I use the NB, NL and NO for my cats so I am not always using the most expensive. It is really worth the investment for quality food which your cat is craving.

Don't let anyone tell you that quality canned food will be fattening for your cat. Good meat is what a cat needs to feel satisfied and happy with his meals. If you use the above-mentioned brands of dry food that will also help him lose weight as you will be eliminating the fattening corn that makes up about 2/3 of the grocery store dry foods. Corn is used to fatten slaughter animals - not your objective in feeding your cat.

I would advise u to take your cat to the vet. Cats very rarely over eat naturally. I know many people who keep their cat's dish full all of the time but cat's usually won't over eat and they are very active. The exception is some times when they get older and less active they will pick up weight. The fact that your cat is begging for food and gaining weight maybe the signs of some health problems.

That is rather unusual. Cats usually eat only when they are hungry. Not like dogs, who will eat always.
Change your food; perhaps cat is not getting enough of the nutrients it needs. Go to a pet store and check for the best type, depending on age. Hills Science diet has many types of really good cat food. I recommend that brand highly. You will have to be tough as well if you want to help your cat. Tough love is hard but necessary sometimes. You will also help your cat by having him tested for a endocrine disorder. See your vet for advice on this.

I hate to say this, and my husband is in a similar situation with two of ours. But you're going to have to learn to ignore him.

Now, our vet told us there are toys you can put dry cat food in and let your kitty play with that. And once in a while the food will scatter out, and your cat can eat that then go back to playing. That might cure several problems: Your cat will get his food, and he will get exercise. And he may be too busy to beg.

Good luck!

I know this sucks.. but you need to put up with the meows. Eventually, when he realizes you arent going to give him food all the time, he will stop meowing. I did this with my cat. It works, I promise

I would take him to the vet. It may be something medically wrong. When I took my cat to the vet, he put her on a diet. After her shots were updated, she ate less and is loosing weight.
