Last night, I was at the movies. After my movie ended, I went to the bathroom - there was a short line for the men's room, and a longer line for the ladies room.
Right after I got in line, a guy brought his girlfriend into the men's room (I could hear her telling him "I can't wait in that line! I have to go") and he and his girlfriend cut the line, he walked her to the only stall in the mens room, and as soon as the guy in the stall came out she went right in.
Was it OK for her to use the mens room?
Or should she have waited on line to use the ladies room, even though she would have had to wait a lot longer to go to the bathroom?
And should she have cut the line and gone right to the only toilet, or should she have waited on line (even though she needed the stall and the guys could have used either the stall or the urinals)?

if a person has a condition that requires them to go ASAP, they they should use whatever bathroom they can get into (they should still apology as they cut in & explain that they really have to go.)
i used the men's room today at a local diner. the ladies room was full & there was no one in the men's room or waiting to go.
there should be two ladies bathrooms for every men's bathroom but until that happens, there will be ladies in the men's room.

Personally, I have used the line in the men's room when the ladies' room was busy. But in this case, it would have probably been better if she had asked the women in the ladies' room if she could cut in line there. She shouldn't go into the men's room if there are any men in there.
(If asking to cut in in the ladies' wouldn't work, then she should wait for all the men to come out of the men's room before using it.)

As a woman, there is no way in hell I would ever use the bathroom in the mens bathroom. For many reasons, safety being at the top of the list, even if the line for the women's bathroom was a mile long, and I just couldn't "hold it", I'd pee in my pants before I used the men's bathroom.
As far as I'm concerned, as funny and innocent as the girlfriend may have perceived her actions, she put her physical safety at risk in using the men's bathroom.

Yeah. I've done it before. A guy was even in there. He looked, and got back to business. The key is to do it with assuredness, get it done, and get out. It's desperation thing, so no groups of giggling females or primping in the mirror. The men's restroom is a solemn place. It's not even as well decorated as the women's.

How about this:
Explain to the people in line what her problem is, and then ASK the guys' permission to cut and use the men's room.
Maybe she couldn't control herself, but I think most people are reasonable if you don't just barge in like that.

Not unless she was a.) pregnant, b.) had a medical condition(such as an over full colostomy, or diabetes), or c.) was about to throw up all over the place! If she was a healthy, normal female, she should have waited in line with all the other females in the Woman's' line. Most places give hefty fines for such abuse.

It was wrong for her to cut in line.
I have used the men's room when there was no accessible women's room available.
Once at work. I was next to the men's room. The women's room was on the other side of the plant. I couldn't walk that far.
Another time was at the market. The women's room was out of order, so I used the men's room. It was NASTY!

That's pretty rude. I can understand the temptation, but it's not appropriate. If a man did that in the women's, there would be an uproar. Men use urinals, for crying out loud, and they don't need some chick seeing their junk just because she's got no manners or couthe.

while i disaprove of them cutting in line, how do they know without asking that their situation is any more proprietary than any one else's, i have used the women's washroom in cases of dire need. checking first to see i was not invading a space that would be assumed male free. i knocked and verbally asked. the toilet will not care, why should anyone else if it helps someone out of a bad situation
