The twinkling ones are expensive and the ones I have found are not really random (some twinkle and some do not). You can sometimes find twinkling bulbs, but they are hard to find and prohibitively expensive as you have to replace each bulb.
The way I get around this is to buy several short flashing strings and string them in different directions and patterns along with a couple of strings that are steady lit. This helps to make the flaching look more random so you get a twinlke effect. You can even put a "chasing" string in there too--it helps to break up the pattern. This will work pretty well on a tree, but not if you are decorating something in a straight line such as a house.

it can be done with special bulbs or wires. Still, it's not worth changing all the bulbs on your lights to get them to twinkle, so buy the box of lights that says they twinkle

You should have received a special bulb with that string of lights. Check the extra bulb package that came with the box and see if there is a strange looking bulb with some color in it. That's the flasher. Replace it with the end bulb near the plug and your string will flash. If its not there, go to the store with the box and ask to buy the flasher that goes with it.

Twinkling yet i do unlike all of them twinkling. i like to have some that twinkle. Say like a number of fifteen bulbs. It supplies it a effective result. Multi-coloured look neat that way and the all white ones make it look as though snow falling.

usually, when you get the lights, there is a clear white bulb in a little plastic bag that is the blinker light...when you replace one of the other bulbs with this one, it causes the whole string to twinkle.

There's a special string of lights, if I'm correct. Just check the boxes when you buy them.
