in schools today or has it been taken out because of "under God"? I went to Catholic school and remember faithfully reciting the Pledge every morning. Do children still do this or is no longer considered to be PC? Thanks.

Yes they do and it hasn't been fully determined to ban from schools yet.

It's still recited in the vast majority of public schools every morning. Most public schools make sure kids know they don't *have* to say "under god" if they don't want to -- and more than likely, that will eventually be removed.

Before the fundamentalists jump all over me, they should remember that "under god" was only added to the pledge in 1954, in an attempt to show those "godless commies" in the USSR how pious the USA was. The pledge had been around, surviving just fine without "under god" in it, since 1892...and ironically enough, it was written by a Baptist minister, who had no problem NOT putting "under god" in the original pledge :)

Yes, even at Middle and High schools they still recite "The Pledge of Allegiance." Even at some schools, after 9/11, they sing songs like "This Land is My Land" with it.

I work in a public school with handicapped children and even they learn the Pledge of Alligiance! The version they say has not been altered at all. It is the same one that you and I learned in school. I live in the Northeast if that makes any difference....

Yes, both of my children still say it, with the "under God" still present.

I think they just removed the "under God" part of it. Stupid politics. I'm waiting for money to be banned from schools because it says "In God We Trust".
