At what age do parents lose their say in dating? One of my friends met a boy, and was so excited. She can not, however date him, becuase her father does not agree with parts of his religious history ( ex, he is not baptized but is a Christian, I assume). She is nearly twenty years old, is it right for her parents to have such a strong hold over her life? If it was me, I would just date him anyway - despite what my parents thought.

While I am the Pope, I am revolutionizing the face of popehood. That is why I would date.

Hello pope....I see your dilemma...I say that her father needs to get over it.! if he is a nice kind person and treats his daughter with respect then, he must be a great person! you cant force people to convert to "Christianity". If he does not want to be "saved" right now then fine. Anyway, you never know if they are going to be together forever! Its a possibility that they might not! So in my opinion, the father should wait and see what happens between the daughter and the boy... If they really decide that they might want to get married THEN i would deal with his not being converted. until then, he should just let her be happy.....
(OH, and to the stupid guy at the top, she did not say that SHE was the girl! key word.."ONE OF MY FRIENDS!!' oy....my head.....people need to read the question right before answering...."

We all have different relationships with our parents, so there is no particular age at which they stop influencing our decisions.
In the United States and most other countries, a person who is eighteen is considered an "adult" for most purposes--voting, legal rights, marriage, military service, driving a car, etc. Due to economic dependence, many young people stretch this out for a few more years, as they attend college and get their first jobs.
If your friend is nineteen, she should have the emotional maturity to tell her parents that while she respects their opinions, she is capable of making her own decisions about whom and when to date. If she intends to live in their house, she must be willing to accept such rules as "not under this roof," and find suitable alternative places (his apartment or a hotel, for instance) if they intend to become intimate.

it shouldnt matter what religius histroy the guy is from if the girl likes him then u cant really domuch about it i dont think parents have a say in this kind of thing really they should want what is best for the daughter and let her learn from her own mistakes..especially at this age...she cant go through her whole life hiding behind her parents...u cant expeience life without mistakes...she should sit down and talk to daddy and tell him that she isnt a little girl ne mroe that she doesnt want to upset him but he should want whats best and if she thinks thats whats best for her then he should leave her alone and let her live her life..if something does happen and it doesnt work out...the father should be there to comfort her not to I told u so thats childish shes not a little girl shes an adult daddy should be treating her like one.

If she's 20 and not being supported by or living with her parents she should date him anyway. They have no say unless she wants them to have a say in it.At 18 years old they stop having a say in it cuz she's a legal adult at that age.
