im moving to new zealand and thinking of taking my car can anyone tell me how i go about reregisterying my car in nz

That's easy. Once the car is here, you need to obtain a warrant of Fitness (WOF), which can be done at most repair shops and costs about $50. You then go to New Zealand Vehicles and Transportation (orange buildings with white writing on the side, most cities have at least one) and buy a registration certificate and plate. This should run you about $ 200 a year for most cars, but you may need to bring your certificate of paid import duty. Interestingly, car insurance is not mandatory here, but if you want one (I wouldn't drive without it), the AA is a good place for it.
If your car is a lefthand drive, you will need an extra permit for it, also available with the Transport people.

Good answer (above). Also you have to think about why you're bringing it over. Unless it's really special, I wouldn't bother. There's plenty of cars here!

Driving left-handed cars is a real pain, too, when everyone else is on the other side.
