Its obvious and without any doubt its Britain. Not being big headed but man for man we would beat Ameica hands down. The training is better, harder, more complex, more rewarding at the end and has a proper history behind it. History is not going to win any wars but gives a sense of something to aspire to. The Americans are all well and good as an army because they have the size and the WMD ( which they would no doubt use with the moron of a president they have ) and can scare all the little nations with very little in terms of armed forces. Britain on the other hand can put fear into most countries by hinting the might send its forces in and then theres the SAS. It blitzes any similar special forces group on earth and can win a war single handedly. Now they may not technically the British army but they are under the command of it so they fall into the catagory. I understand the Americans are going to moon and groan saying uh yeh but duh we won WWII for you. Yeh course you did course!!

Britain is better, we've won more wars than any other nation we can scare the contineltals with our army, we have a selection prosess, and no other counry has that, with Britain, you can sign up, but that doesn't mean you'll get in, we have entrance tests, a recruitment selection process and 6 1/2 months of basic training. True, the U.S army may be bigger, but its not as well dispilined, and needs allies to help them fight wars, the British don't. And the Americans didn't save Britain from the Nazis, the RAF did that, Battle of Britain 1940.

The US Marines are far and away a more efficient war machine than the British Army, but if the British Army assembled a force composed entirely of Ghurkas, that force could destroy anything it was commanded too!

I would agree for day to day soldiers the British Army deserves respect for their high levels of training. However for Spec Ops...we are the US military is by far the hands down leader. Navy Seals, Delta Force, and even the Marines are highly trained and skilled operatives....and as we are allies...many of our soldiers go about cross-training etc. and we share many of the same training techniques. It really is impossible to say who is better.

I know a high ranking officer in the Canadian military who talked to me about being on a mine-sweeping assignment with American soldiers. He said that the Canadian soldiers refused to work with the Americans because their training was so poor that they just ended up putting the Canadian soldiers lives at risk, needlessly.

So...if that's any indication.
