I find it hard to believe that someone doesn't believe in anything at all.

Atheists believe in plenty of things - the natural things that make up the universe.

As far as believing in "anything spiritual", I'm sure that there are some atheists who do, but I do not, and I suspect that the majority of atheists do not either. The whole "spirituality" thing seems shallow and empty.

As far as possible, I try not to be "inclined" at all!

The aim is to believe what is, and not believe what isn't.
What I would *like* to be true rather gets in the way of that.
Ah, but what is, that is the question. Not to rule anything in or out. Extrasensory perception? A collective human unconscious? The material world as illusion or computer simulation? The migration of souls, past-life recall? (Noting that extraordinary claims require corresponding proof!)

Please do not mistake all atheists for simple materialists.
If I do not believe in the supernatural, it is because that anything that DOES exist I take to be part of nature, not some "other realm." Human beings may be capable of far more than we have really accepted. But that's not supernatural, except by a quirk of language.

Or is spiritual here to be taken in a more ethical light?
What values one should espouse? If that's a spiritual quest then that too is open to atheists.

Being "spiritual" and believing in an imaginary sky-fairy are two different things. One atheist I knew was the most spiritual man I'd ever run across. Insightful, contemplative, and sensitive to the world around him.

Buddhists are almost exclusively atheists yet some of them belief in a lot of metaphysical phenomena like rebirth, souls etc.

Atheists just don't believe in things in the absence of evidence.

You wouldn't buy a car without proof that it existed, would you? Then why build your life around some unproveable god?

I believe in lots of things, but nothing supernatural. There isn't a shred of real evidence supporting most claims.

No Evidence = Someone Made It Up.

*sigh*

Just because we don't believe in an invisible sky daddy or soul doesn't mean we don't believe in ANYTHING.
