I'm 30, but I have a disease that causes adult acne. I've had sever to moderate acne ever since I was about 10. When I was younger, we never could find anything that worked, but some of the products that have come out in the past 5 years are great! For the most part, I don't have a problem anymore, but a few break out every once in a while. What I do is wash my face daily (morning and night) with Clean & Clear sensitive skin foaming facial cleanser and then at night use Neutrogena's Deep Clean Cream Cleanser to get down into the pores (if you don't have sensitive skin, you could probably use it twice as well). The Clean & clear is more topical and cleaning on the outside surfaces of the skin, but the Neutrogena gets deep down into the pores and you can actually feel it working (you get this cool tingly sensation). When I do get them, I use Clean & Clears Advantage Acne Spot Treatment (comes in a little tube .75 fl oz) and MOST of the time it will clear it up completely within 24 hours, sometimes even less. Even if it won't clear it up, it will significantly reduce the size of it.
Be sure NOT to try and pop it. it's tempting to do that when they get the puss filled heads, but you'll most likely be left with a scar if you try to pop it.
Be aware that every one is different, so what works for me may not work well for you. You might discover Noxema works best or something else entirely.
Also make sure the make up you use is hypo allergenic and won't clog your pores. Make up can actually contribute to your acne. If you have the money, you may consider trying the make up called Bare Minerals. I saw the commercials for it and decided to try it and I was amazed at the results and it really DOES help my complexion! They have a make up club at http://www.bareminerals.com/ where you pay like $30 a month and they send you a 2 month supply every 2 months. Also, if there is a store where you live called Sephora, they carry bare minerals. I have seen some of the cheaper drug store make up brands selling mineral based powders. I've never tried those, but they might work just as good, I don't know though.
Good luck and try not to stress about it, a lot of people have acne!

Lavender essential oil. I know the word "oil" sounds scary but its an essential oil so it is very different. I never believed my mother and her crazy concoctions until I tried it. I broke out really bad a few days before I had to be somewhere. She gave me the lavender and by that time I was desperate. I dabbed it on with a q-tip for a few days. They disappeared. It was crazy. She also said that Tea tree oil works as well though the lavender smells better.

Try toothpaste over night. That might work for you, but it isn't for everyone. You can also try to put rubbing alcohol on it and as some one mentioned above, try puttin' hydrogen peroxide on it. If your goin' to do the last 2 remedies, as much as they say don't touch them or bust 'em, I would break them open, squeeze them, and then dab it on. That way, the alcohol or peroxide (which ever you prefer) will be working on the inside to get rid of the infection and drying it up. The alcohol remedy might sting for a minute, but hey! Who said beauty wasn't painful?

Wash your face twice a day with a good acne soap like Phisoderm. Sometimes I put witch hazel or rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and let it sit on them for a while (about half an hour), and they usually clear up. But don't put rubbing alcohol on a zit that's open or that you've just popped because it stings.

Hey!
Have you seen those annoying commercials for Clearisil Ultra? How about Proactiv Solution? Well guess what? THEY WORK! But, Proactiv needs to be specially ordered, it is more expensive, and it takes a few weeks. But it is Star Treatment! Clearisil Ultra is cheaper, but works in just 3 DAYS! I used it, and IN 3 DAYS they were gone! Trust me, they really do work!
Good Luck!
