We are here to learn and to grow.
When we evolved to having self awareness a lot more issues were suddenly put in our lap. We had to learn how to interact with one another and get along. We had to learn how nature worked given our new perception of reality.
The idea that we could one day be a God is a subjective term since to an animal like a dog we could already be viewed as a God if that animal could think in those terms!
What matters is how we treat one another not what ideas or delusions people have about pink monkeys or sky fairies!

We are here to balance the cosmos and contribute to the transfer of energy between systems. We are also here because the Universe is infinately probable. Somewhere out there, there is an infinate number of different organisms all asking the same question as you. As well, there is an infinate number of answers to the question. But don't take my word for it, just ask some religious guy, Im sure he will tell you THE truth and nothing but THE truth. LOL. No...seriously

There is no cosmic "why". Strictly speaking, we exist to pass on our genes to the next generation for the species to continue. The only real purpose beyond that is what we make for ourselves...noble or mundane.
