I think you will get as many different answers as there are models of TVs. One thing to remember is that the price of LCD TVs is constantly coming down, so if you can wait even until after Christmas you will get a much better deal.

We bought one with a 32 in screen about 2 months ago, and are very satisfied with it. We looked at many models and we found that Sony was by far the best picture, but also much more expensive. We chose Panasonic - much less money than Sony, but also a much better picture than any other model other than Sony.

Samsung have a very good range of LCD's that aren't far off Sony for picture quality and cost much less. The best LCD I have ever seen was a Sharp Aquos 65" HD LCD and the picture quality was stunning, so incredibly sharp (no pun intended) and vivid with perfect balance of every clour and no smearing on fast moving objects. Same goes for the rest of the Aquos range I would have thought and Sharp invented LCD so you can trust them to know what they're doing. Sharp is the top of the range but you pay for it, athough Sony charge about the same.

In my opinion, a Sony is the best, but everyone has their own opinion.

The best thing to do is to go to a local store and look at the different TV's they have. I would suggest you look at it in person and decide if you like the picture before buying online.

Best thing to do when buying something like a TV is to buy it from a company that has a local store in your area, whether you buy it in person, or buy it online. Many chain stores will let you buy online and pick up at the local store to save shipping costs. Many also have good return policies where you can buy it online, and return it to the store for any reason. It may cost a few dollars more than buying from a discount online retailer, but the better service is worth it when spending that kind of money.

Sony has a new Bravia out. You want the highest resolution you can get. Check out the stats for resolution. The higher the numbers, the better the picture. If you got the bucks.
