Is it always good to prevent floods? Like in the evergladeS?

No it is not good to prevent floods(even if it were possible). Flooding enriches the soil so it can produce plants that sustain animals and people. The real problem is that people have decided to move into flood prone area's and don't like the fact that they can't control nature. We would lose a lot of farm land and food crops and rivers would be a lot more dangerous with all the water that would flow through them. And besides we can't afford the maintenance of the infrastructure (bridges,roads etc.) we have now.

Flooding as nature had it was beneficial to nature and agriculture. When the Mississippi river meandered making many S turns through the valley it held back water permitting it to be absorbed into the soil. During and after heavy rain or snow melt, the water was held back by the meanders lessening the amount of water rushing down the river, flooding the lower end.
Straightening the meanders made shipping much shorter. Those in the shipping business gained, everybody and everything else lost.

Mother will through things at u that u are unprepared for. New Orleans is something else to live in a hole below sea level.
