If not, why not? The increase in natural disasters is a pretty sure sign of global warming... Or does it not matter unless it's affecting you personally?

And you can't ignore the environment because it's not your 'thing,' it's everyones thing. It's keeping you, and the rest of the planet, alive.

And if your answer is 'it won't happen in my lifetime' - what about your kids? Your friends' kids?

Truthfully, I believe global warming is one of the biggest hoaxes being perpetrated on us. 4 times in the last century, we've been scared about climate change, first it was global cooling, then warming, then cooling again, and now warming again.

Furthermore, much of the most alarmist "evidence" about global warming is now being debunked. The most alarmist climate models do not reflect reality when compared with actual data.

I urge you to check out the skeptics handbook I link to below.

That being said, I do believe in being green to prevent pollution and conserve our natural resources. It makes no sense to waste energy when we can save it by making small changes. I use flourescent bulbs where possible. I seperate out my recycling. I have never owned an SUV.

As most well informed people know, Global Warming causes Climate shift. Science has found that in the past the earth has experienced a number of Ice Ages as a result of climate shift. All this happened before automobiles. Global Warming cannot be prevented, but it's obvious that human beings have contributed to a number of factors that will undoubtedly bring about a Climate Shift far sooner than in earth's natural cycle. In addition, Global Warming is already happening, you can't prevent something that's already happened or is in progress. But it really couldn't hurt to cut back on pollution as a means of preserving anything that hasn't been polluted, cut down, or killed off.

Working on it. We selected a power company that gets its power from 100% renewable sources (solar, wind, etc.) and we are purchasing more energy-efficient appliances as we upgrade the house (we just installed a 14 SEER A/C that uses R-410 coolant, and added another 12" of insulation to the attic). The cars are still an issue, but when we get new ones I would like to look into hybrids.

There is no global warming. Heck, they can't even predict the weather 3 days from now, but you expect them to accurately understand what will happen 100 years from now? Please! The idea of global warming is silly.

Oh, and since you asked, I'm sort of a pale beige color. I do get a little darker in the summer, though.

I try and recycle, and i got a hybrid car. At some point I am looking on to solar panels too.

I try and get organic food when I can.

It is becoming more mainstream to be green. Hopefully the green generation will replace the me generation.

I grew up in the 70s. The same guys said the world was cooling then. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15391426/site/newsweek/ That is a Newsweek article about it. I just can't get over that so I am in favor of warming.

I got my food on the table. I got my TV and movies and video games. I got time to hang out with my friends. Why should I care? Oh, and I'm the average American by the way.
