I'm doing a school report, & can't find anyone who objects to UNICEF's work. Please, please give me your opinions. I'd really, really appreciate it.

UNICEF
theres really no reason to be against it
its a non profit organization made only to help the less fortunate
here's a little bit on it to help you out.
Here's wht UNICEF does it:
"Children have rights
The world has set goals for children
Children demand a voice
Poverty reduction starts with children
The people of the world say 'Yes' for children
Children should not be dying from preventable causes

Your support - as a donor, volunteer or member of a partner organization - will make the difference for children.

191 countries have pledged to meet the Millennium Development Goals

The Child Rights Information Network disseminates information on child rights globally

Every year, more than 10 million children die totally preventable deaths. Six million of these lives could be saved by basic, cost-effective measures."

good luck with your project ;)

The problem isn't with UNICEF per se, but rather with the United Nations.

Depending on who you talk to, the UN is:

- a horribly bloated make-jobs program for liberals around the world
- a crooked, corrupt organization that needs to be investigated by the FBI for criminal wrong-doing
- the center for tin-pot nasty dictators to decry the United States by day, then party in NYC by night
- then there are the left-over John Birch people, along with the religious crazies, who believe that the UN is intent on having a pagan one-government world.

Very few Americans will defend the United Nations. The recent "oil for bribes" scandal, as well as proven allegations of rape by aid workers in refugee camps, not to mention impotence as the UN looked on as innocents were massacred in Yugoslavia, Darfur, Rwanda, etc etc do not make many believers in the UN.

Personally, I think that UNICEF is probably one of the better-run UN programs. However, that's like saying that "it's the sharpest butter knife" or "flat tire with the most air in it." I prefer to give my money elsewhere because I have no faith in the parent organization.

If you take a look at the first link below, there are some international criticisms of the group. There are also a lot of people who are against the UN, so maybe you could use that too - second link below.

Good luck!

We need to do both. Children all over the world need to eat. No child should be without adequate nutrition. There is enough food in this world to feed everyone.
