Oh I definitely feel they have an effect. We often mask a side of ourselves that we feel we can not burden others with. Or perhaps we are embarrassed to admit that certain edge of our lives. But it will never be "out of sight, out of mind." If it is important enough to us to mask... then it must be an important aspect of our life.
So how will it impact the quality of our day to day life? We hold back. Life should be attacked head on. To always stand in the wings and watch... to be cautious..... to be wary... to be unsure, doesn't allow us to be who we truly are.
That is why it is so wonderful to find that friend that will accept the bad with the good..... that accepts who you are, what you feel you must hide. Once it is all out in the open, it is so liberating! You are free from a prison you felt you had to make for yourself.
Get out of that prison...... and live freely. Your conscience will allow you too feel like you are invincible.

Out of sight, out of mind...some things are best left unsaid...
These are things that come out, eventually. Its best not to hide anything because you have to explain if it comes out and why you never revealed it. It will definitely have an impact on your life because you are concealing something that you should probably come clean with - depending on the effect it might have on another individual.

Depending on what you are hiding, it can cause alot of damage, because although nobody else can see it and know it's there, you know it is there and it won't go away if you don't deal with it. You need to either talk to someone that you trust or get yourself to a counselor. Trust me you will feel much better and the people around you will notice the difference in your demeanor once you get it all out.

It is according to what you are hiding and who you are hiding it from....
In a relationship, it is best not to hide things because it just might take a while but some how some day; They will find out !!!
And then they will not feel like they can trust you anymore and they will always wonder "what else you are hiding from them"...

I think for the men who regularly look at porn it comes out eventually because they turn into dirty old men.
People who are hard drinkers have rough looking faces, same with druggies and overall its just better if you live a clean, Godly life, and think on positive things all the time.

It would depend on what it was that a person was hiding. If you are referring to a deep dark secrety I think that this would take a lot of energy to repress thinking about it and it would always leave a nagging feeling of guilt in your heart.
