Quality crab is easy to recognize. Fresh cooked crab smells fresh, with no hint of ammonia odor. The freshest crabs are alive and frisky. Fresh cooked crab has a bright red shell. Any exposed meat should be white and moist, not dried out or yellow.

Crab meat is an excellent source of high quality protein, vitamins, and minerals that are needed for good nutrition. Crab meat is an excellent source of phosphorus, zinc, copper, calcium, and iron and is very low in fat, especially saturated fat
If you eat it with butter just make sure you are not over doing it :)

Crabs are scavengers, like dogs and crows. They eat stuff that would make us very sick to eat. Can we eat them? Sure. Are they nutritional? Sure, at first glance. Their meat contains protein and nutrients like any meat. If you consider what they eat, and that doesn't gross you out, then go for it. And have yourself some dog while you're at it.

No,they itch like buggery. If you are unfortunate enough to catch them, the best way to get shut is to strip off, stand over a bucket of water, when they come down for a drink then run away and leave them!!!
