I heard of do-it-yourself tattoo removal kits being offered such as "Tattoo Off" and "Tat Be Gone". Does anyone know if these products actually work?

These kits are probably nothing more than sandpaper. Unfortunetly, there is no effective method besides lasering the tatoo out, or cutting and scraping the tatoo out.
If you are very self concious about the tat's, I suggest getting some Dermablend. It's a cosmetic that will cover tatoos. I have a friend that has a major tat on his arm that he covers with this from time to time, and it works great! You can find it at Macy's or Nordstroms, or many other department stores.
This should help you get by until you save up enough for a safe and proven method.

Since the ink goes deep into the tissue I can't believe something you can buy otc could possibly work.
I think right now only laser works safely....and you're right it's very expensive and more painful than getting the tattoo in the first place.

If you can't afford lasers, I'm afraid you're just about SOL (if you know what that stands for).
As far as your other options...
I hear they sell sandpaper pretty cheap.
Swing by the hardware store and pick some up the next time you're out.

I looked at some of the sites some have listed in their answers but none have photos, but one does say they will buy it back if you don't like it, so hey if you can afford it give it a shot.
