It is maybe time to use newspapers. Line the bottom of the whelping box with newspapers and then put in a bunch of shredded paper to help soak up the mess. All you will have to do is roll up the whole works and replace. Tearing up papers is alot of work though, I usually rent a movie and invite friends over for a 'party' and we rip papers. You can get papers from the printer or recycling center, it takes ALOT!

That said, puppies are WORK! This is still the easy part and they will be MUCH messier between 5 and 8 weeks! This is just part of breeding, you decided to breed...

It works really well to set up a large area in an exercise pen known for dogs works well. Use newspaper to cover the floor of the area, use many layers. This way when the puppies mess you can just remove the newspaper in that area. It will take a lot of newspaper but ask your family and neighbors for theirs. Also it would be nice to provide a blanket for comfort. It sounds like you have a mommy dog that isn't a very clean mommy which just makes it harder on you. Good Luck!

My dog just had a litter of 4 a few weeks ago, and I understand what you are going through. I made sure that I had enought towels so that I could do laundry no more than once a day and they wouldn't run out (I had five sets total). I take out the diry towels and put them in a trash bag (tied) until I have enough to do laundy, and the I bleach and wash them. Also, puppy pads (for housebreaking) work great. They wick away moisture, are pretty cheep, and can be thrown away when dirty. But if you use puppy pads, buy them in 100 count boxes, trust me you will use them. Good Luck :)

Since their mom is not there to take care of them you don't have much choice but to clean up after them. This problem is only going to get worse as they get older!!
General housekeeping of the puppies is of utmost importance and if your mother isn't capable or doesn't care I hate to see what type of owner she will be later on when a real problem comes around.
I would try to rehome them. Or call the animal shelter and foster a new mom that can nurse your pups also.
Newspapers work well for puppies.
Use old towels from a 2nd hand shop and just throw them out when they get soiled.

Normally 8-to-10-day-old puppies can already be alone and without nursing for three or four hours, obviously as long as they have been satisfied and perfectly call. Around the 15th day you could argue consider separating them from their mother for up to five hours during the night. This way, you will get them used to eating at a certain schedule, which will eat very beneficial when you introduce solid meals. We are ready now is the first milk teeth appear around day 14, and anyone who has had a chance to play with a puppy this age knows up to what degree they can cause harm due to their sharpness. In some cases, it is absolutely necessary to change the diet, which we generally know as weaning as of the third week of life (21 days), because even the ***** with a lot of maternal instinct can start to reject her little ones because of the damage that the teeth inflict on the nipples.

Most puppies are completely capable of starting to eat from a bowl around the 24th day; therefore, you can easily think about introducing a change in the diet after the third week. Start very slowly to offer a baby bottle with very liquid pap, mixing a couple of fodder balls with warm water, never with milk, as it could cause diarrhea. When these little balls are perfectly soft, blend the mixture well. This mixture has to be and a temperature of 38.5°C approximately. Combine this with the natural milk of the mother, increasing the number of baby bottles throughout the next four days and at the same time reducing the amount of milk they drink from the mother. Thus, the puppies will go getting used to the new flavor and the change will be much easier for them. Some commercial fodder brands form unless for puppies in the presentation of pap, which saves a lot of time for you. But you was also bear in mind that when the puppies stops drinking milk he also stops receiving the important antibodies that protect him against possible diseases. Therefore, it's very convenient to ask the veterinarian what to do in these situations.

seems to me that china has not had puppy's before becuase the mom usually does clean up after the puppy(s), and its not like you are complaining you are asking for advice. i think the only thing you can really do is clean up after them, if the mom won't do it than it's pretty much up to you to clean it if you don't want the mess in the house. good luck!!

Puppys are alot of work they require lots of time and patience and you have to clean up after them.
It sounds like maybe your dog should be spayed after she is done nursing this litter.
If your mom is not doing a good job cleaning up after the pups it is a good thing that you are. The puppys will be healthier for all the work you are doing.

Use newspaper. Lots and lots of newspaper. Put the puppies in a small swimming pool so they can't get out but they have room to crawl around and play. If you can't find a child-sized swimming pool at this time of year (and you probably can't) then a cardboard box will be ok. Cut the sides down so that they can't see out but can't get out. You want them to be able to see so they don't think they are all alone and start crying.

Your complaining shows me you should have never breed the dog in the first place. What did you think would happen. You need to get your dog spayed after this. You are the perfect example why your dog shouldn't have puppies. Do your duty and keep them clean and healthy. You have six more weeks of this since puppies shouldn't be sold or given away until they are 8 weeks old. But what I read here from you I don't think you really care and will give them away ASAP. Shame you let her have puppies. People have to learn that letting their dogs have puppies is a lot of work. They just don't pop out and take care of themselves and mommy relays on you to help her take care of her babies.

Not much more that can be done. Just remember it will only be a few more weeks. If mom wont help you are the only other way they will stay clean. Good Luck.

you can try news paper easier to clean. You might try getting a hold of the local paper they sometimes keep and hand out the end rolls of paper. This is good way to make it easier to clean and if you use paper already printed on tends to turn puppies black.
