I am 28 and all my life I really had a weight problem. A few years ago, I moved to the east coast and three months after I moved I got on a very good work out plan. No pills, nothing more than being active, exercising at least six days a week and eating right. Anyway, I lost 70 pounds in 8 months. I went from 340 lbs to 270. I felt great and people really started to notice. At one point the weight loss stopped and I later learned that it was called the leveling off point. At which the right answer would be to continue. Long story short, within the next year I put all the weight back on. The problem now is the weight wont stop and I have found it tough if not impossible to motivate myself to get back into going to the gym and working out. I try but no matter how hard I do the motivation is just not there. Any advice? I definitely don't want to continue because this rate, I'll be much heavier and I can already start to feel the side effects of it.

You're going to have to find the motivation (if your own health and displeasure at your size isn't enough) or simply make yourself go because you know you should. Once you get back in the habit of working out, it'll be a part of your day like a routine.

I know what you are going through...I've done the yo-yo thing myself...I've gotten tired of workout and just said "to heck with it" (well, that's not what I said but this is a kid-friendly site) BUT I've always come back around to the better eating and the workouts.

I try to workout at least 5 days a week, for at least 1 hour (2 better but I haven't been doing that lately). I register myself in local 5K foot races to motivate me to workout so I won't do too poorly in the races (I don't want to be last!). I'm less likely to blow off a workout if I remember that I've got a race in "x" number of days or weeks.

Find something inside you that will get you going...find a partner to workout with...scare yourself with the health risks of not losing the weight...whatever it takes...

I think you should look for help, like a doctor, he will give you good advice. It´s important for you to do exercise, I know sometimes it´s hard to go to the gym but think about how good you are gonna feel after working out. And stay away from junk food, that´s the worst thing you could do for your body. Remember that being overweight can lead to serious health problems. Good luck!

What about getting a workout buddy with similar weight loss goal? You can help and motivate each other when you have your ups & down. Sometimes you need someone to push you to get things started.
