It probably depends on how long you've been dating. Can your boyfriend offer suggestions? How about a gift certificate to a good restaurant?

You don't want to offend them with some stereotypical "Indian" type of gift, especially if you do not know how religious or culturally involved they are. I think a nice small box of Godiva chocolates is great. If you are all of legal age and you know they are not against drinking, wine makes an EXCELLENT gift. I recommend Chateau St. Michele Riesling-it's not expensive, it's really good, and it doesn't make you look like you're being pretentious. It's an easy wine. However, if they are not drinkers or if you are under 21, wine is obviously out.

If you bring an edible, etiquette dictates that the recipients are not expected to open or serve the gift unless they so choose. You simply present it for their enjoyment, and leave it at that. Good luck, and good for you paying respect in such an appropriate way.
