Depends on if it's coloured or not. If it's black or dark colours, laser treatment. I've had 6 sessions and it takes a LONG time because you can't do it all at once. No matter what treatment you get, it is going to hurt. The tattoo hurt and the removal will be more expensive and about the same or worse pain.
The laser feels like being popped with tiny drops of boiling fat. You know when you get hit by grease from the frying pan? That's what it feels like. Ooooh....it does hurt but the results are great. You can't get a tan whilst having the treatment because the laser could remove permanent pigment.
If you have a tattoo with light colours, there is an option that was found on Harley Street but the clinic closed down. It is an injection of solution and the skin forces the ink out of the body. I have heard some dismal reviews from a doctor that there is a very real chance of scarring and ending up with it worse than the tattoo.
You can't use a laser with colours like light green, white, yellow because the laser is attracted to the darker colours. Red is also a no-no.
If it's dark, there's a clinic in Belsize Park, North London in the Royal Free Hospital where I have had a really good service. The laser fades it but it does take a while and it can add up price wise.
If money is no object, then you could go for skin grafting which is exactly what it "says on the tin".
I have just re-read your notes. Ask for the numbing gel before the visit and apply when you know you have an appointment. Also use mind tricks - they work - visualisation techniques, such as thinking of a time when you had a good laugh and felt on top of the world. Your mind will "trick" your body into releasing endorphins and the pain won't be near as bad. Pain is mostly in the head and you can have control over the degree.
Once again, good luck.

2/3 Layers under your skin.Technically you could skin yourself instead of expensive laser treatment for removal.Just remember the 2 odd bottles of whisky before you attempt such an operation.Art knifes or a sharp potato skinner would do the trick as long as there sharp enough or even a skinning tool.Just peel 2/4 layers of skin like your peeling an orange. You have 7 layers of skin to work with.Pain wise well probably not that much once your natural endorphins kick in plus loaded with alcohol your home free apart from a wee bit of scaring.Try using ice packed onto the area for around 2 hours until numb then just skim into your arm.Or you could use the acid method Hydrofluoric Acid (sometimes Found In Rust Removers or Industrial Metal Cleaning kits) would be ample find a steel basin with some depth put a few millimetres of (HF) Acid into it then dip your tattoo into it this method would be best done outside a local A&E department as the pain can be overwheleming just remember to run straght ahead also the scaring can be bad if not caught in time.Or you could just find a really good tattoo artist in your area and have he/she do a great custom peice over the old tattoo. The advice above is totaly at your own risk personaly i would go with the cover up option as you know the pain first hand but its entirly up to yourself. This happens to be the best advice for those unfortunate souls dwelling in prison or for those that are totally skint or where tattoo laser treatment is not avalible. The pain part won't be as bad as you may imagine but however you remove your tattoo there will always be pain involved.Good Luck.

Doesn't it hurt just getting a tattoo? I'm sure whatever the procedure you use is, it's pain is only slightly more relative to getting the tattoo in the first place. Count that as the cost of your mistake.
I know, I know, but sometimes things just make sense.

Laser removal is the best. It's not to painful, but it takes several sessions and can be costly.

there are a few ways and none are painfree!
theres -
lazer
acid - the worst
abrasion - rubbing it off
cutting it out - surgically.
there is a cream however, im not sure of the name but "apparentely" it removes tattoos over a period of time i think it "eats" the ink slowly but i dont know how effective this stuff is. try searching it on the internet and see what comes up.

Get a trusted friend to take you to have it removed. but first get totally drunk so your completely out of it. Then you shouldn't know about it until the next day, then you will.

I'M AFRAID THERE IS NO PAINFREE METHOD OF TATTOO REMOVAL. TAKE SOME PAINKILLERS BEFORE YOUR NEXT LASER TREATMENT, IT MIGHT DULL THE PAIN A BIT.

theres a masking cream you can buy from some shops that covers the tattoo costs a bit but is cheaper than a laser treatment and it masks the tattoo so u cant see it!

easiest way to get rid of tatoos is to have milk injected into them. This will not leave any scar and is less painful than laser.
