Right now my room is kind of a beach theme. I have a hawaiian-ish bedspread, and other things like my lamp, post-it board, and these blue and green lights that match.

I like having a beach theme because that kind of fits my personality, but I'm getting sick of it. I have dark green carpet and lime green walls. What should I do?

By the way, I can't re paint my room & my room is very small so I can't really put rugs and stuff on the floor.

Try blues, they are colors of the ocean and the sky.

You can also go with Key West colors - aquas, and colors of the sunset.

For a more muted look, try neutrals (like the color of the sand) along with white (white caps of the ocean and the clouds from the sky). Then the pop of color could be the accessories and bedding that you have.

Don't like the color of the carpet, or want to draw attention away form it, try an area rug with the colors of the rest of the room.

The Hawaiian theme sounds nice but if you want to change it you might think about painting the walls a different color, and its tough to go wrong with white. You could get some accent rugs to contrast with the dark green carpet, a mellow contrast is best so avoid a bright color, maybe a lighter shade of green, or blue-green, or even white would work. And obviously, a different bedspread. Again, something that contrasts nicely with the dark green carpet would be good. I personally like strong blues but a light blue, sort of a sky blue or a baby blue, might work. Any art work on the walls? It is totally up to you and the mood you want to create. It could be modern art, it could be posters of some of your favorite music or film personalities or activities (snow boarding, surfing, skating?) or even beautiful places you have been or would like to see. Some places will blow up your photos to poster size, if thats a choice. Anyway, enjoy...and happy new year!
