Through this forum . . . interested in your thought of the difference of a person who is religious (through church or temple) vs. one who is simply spiritual (soulful) and has no affiliation with one religion, yet respecting of all. I was raised in a Christian faith. Am now simply spiritual, belong to no religious organization. Believe in heart of God, Jesus Christ, Budda, ' mother earth' et al. I feel confident and have a personal relationship with and feel at peace with my relationship with our creator and the Oneness of all. I'm respectful of all persons journey of faith and religions. This forum here is so open . . . wondering thoughts of persons here regarding religion vs. spiritual persons. Open to all thoughts, agree or not, blunt to open minded.

Spirituality (The real spirituality not its christian version) is the next step beyond religions

Spirituality does not need religions or faiths,...but a direct guidance from the God

Religion is like a canal, water flowing in fixed direction with pre-set turns and stops

Spirituality is a hilly rivulet...finding its way in the deep jungles...singing and dancing..not even worried about where would it reach

Our next evolution is Spirituality...beyond religions

Spirituality the way you described it has no discipline. Everything is okay even contradicting thoughts are allowed just for the sake of spirituality. It's like Hinduism, with 10,000 gods they can worship any other culture's god becuase what's another one. Religion on the other hand are segragated from each other because of beliefes. This lead to fighting and war as seen now and throughout history. You can see the hipocrasy of it however, it doesn't null the fact that one of them will be true religion. I am a Christian but I don't believe all these religion claiming to be Christian are all true.

I agree. I was taught and believe that spirituality is a souls connection with the creator...however you see the creator (God, Goddess, Great Spirit, the All whatever). No religion or practice is necessary to be spiritual. Religion on the other hand, for many people, is the means to forge and maintain that connection. So it is possible to be spiritual without being religious and to be religious without being spiritual.

So many people have a wrong idea about the meaning of religion. In James 1:27 it states "Pure religion and undefiled before God, and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, to keep himself unspotted from the world.
So I am a man of faith not religion. My faith is in God and the completed work of the Christ on the cross and His Resurrection. So in this sense I'm also spiritual in my faith.

I agree with you. I belong to a metaphysical Christian Church (Religious Science) that supports all religions. But my spiritual life is personal and I go to the church just to get some community and structure sometimes. I don't need it.
Spirituality is the only real religion. Sometimes the other religions actually block spirituality by limiting thought to what is already known. Since the real experience of God is always surprising if a person constantly thinks in little circles they can end up missing the point altogether.

Buddhists are non secular yet oftentimes do not have confidence in a god. comparable with different eastern non secular philosophies. Many New Age variety ideals concentration on the non secular edge of existence with out acknowledging any god. BTW, the 'spirituality' element as you call all of it started way in the previous the 60s.

Religion is what your parents try to force-feed you at a young age.
Spirituality is always a personal discovery.
