He is fully onoculated and reglarly wormed. He is great for 5 days or more then will have a day when he's off colour. I thought it was because he eats his own poo sometimes, especially if its soft and a little runny. He is drinking plenty of water and not showing any signs of being listless.

Ask your vet if their is anything they can think of. Just because he is getting wormed doesn't mean he doesn't have any. Some over the counter wormers only treat Roundworms or hookworms. He could have others like Tapeworms or whipworms that will continue to multiply because the wormer doesn't effect them. Also it could be Giardia or something like that he could have picked up outside. I would recommend taking him to the vet to have a fecal sample taken. It will help in the long run. Also ask your vet if maybe his food is to rich for him. If you are feeding him adult food that can upset puppies stomachs because they aren't getting the nutirents they need from it. Your vet can tell you what food is okay for your puppy's tummy.

Babies only drink milk, therefore their stools are always yellowish. When they are weaned they get firmer and darker. If you had breast fed your baby the stools would have been mustardy in colour and slightly congealed. This is normal. You really should have some sort of health visitor or advisor to tell you what is normal. When you say that that you have to bath her, this really shouldnt be regarded as some sort of extreme behaviour. You should be bathing your baby regularly anyway. Once a day may not be enough. Try to imagine if you soiled your pants six or eight times a day. Would you really be happy only washing in one bath a day? You cannot make any mistakes by keeping your baby clean. Nappy rash is caused by wee and poo mixing, this in turn produces a chemical called amonia. It is very strong smelling and burns the skin. A baby's skin is very tender and is burned easily by amonia. This leaves a pink/red rash on the babies nappy area. hope this advice helps! :) lory

It sounds like he may have Giardia, a protozoan parasite. I would go get SAFEGUARD powder dewormer, (you can get it at Petco, Petsmart, Walmart, and Tractor Supply Company, among other places) in the size for the weight of your puppy (if he is in between sizes go with the next size up). It is a powder that you sprinkle on their food for 3 days, and then on the last day give your dog a bath, launder all of his bedding, and be sure to pick up all of his poop outside. This will treat the giardia, but if doesn't help, go to the vet.

He may have a little virus but that is unlikely since he gets sick on and off on a regular basis sounds like. Maybe try mixing his dry food with a little white rice and cottage cheese. Feed this to him every other day or every third day. He may have a sensitive stomach. Nutro dog food (very good dog food) makes dry dog food for dogs with sensitive stomachs. That has pretty much worked for my dog but I still do the cottage cheese and rice every now and then. He loves it.

Have your vet check a stool sample- if they don't find anything you can ask them to run a Giardia test- it is another parasite that is hard to find in the regular stool sample checks.
Giardia can cause loose stools- most of which kinda comes and goes.

If they are both negative- then at least you know and you and your vet can decide on where to go next :)

I would advice you to take him to the vet for a check up,they will be able to give you advice. It could be diet related which would explain his runny poo.

Have you asked your vet about possible allergies? It was about that age that my dog started developing the same symptoms which were diagnosed as a food allergy
