If you have a Dell, I know they put it on the side of the tower. It should also be on the CD case that the XP disc came with.
On a side note:

This software will locate your key once your installation is complete if you lose it again.

The product key is most likely EITHER on the wrapper or case that the XP disc was in, or on a sticker on the back of your computer (on this laptop, Dell stuck it on the bottom.)

If its a newer pc under warranty, call the pc manufacturer, they should have it on record. There should also be a product label key on the pc somewhere (it can be hidden). If you bought the OS cd and are just upgrading (ie - your pc came with 98 or ME and you bought the xp upgrade)...you could possibly try calling microsoft.

It will be on the PC case or if its a laptop it will be on the bottom.
It will be a series of numbers and letter's. Its a small sticker and will say XP home edition. example
34DTE-TYYVE-HHTY5-YYG45-665TY
This is not a real number.
