Pat Buchanan, conservation Christian, recently stated that the Iraq War was "the biggest mistake in American history." On the other hand, God talked to George W. Bush and told him to start the war in Iraq.

Yes, God told President Bush to invade Iraq. President Bush (and apparently God) said so himself.

So obviously God is wrong.

Pat Buchanan is making the common mistake a lot of people make. He is viewing circumstances through his own lens of personal opinion and not trusting that God who calls each star by name and who put electrons in their orbits has plans that go beyond our limited human understanding.

We have no idea what might have happened if Saddam was not removed from power. For all we know he might have unleashed some terrible biological weapon that could have killed millions around the world. Just because things in Iraq are not going the way we would have them to go if we could write out a script like in a play doesn't mean that God's eternal purposes were not served by the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Isaiah 55:8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the LORD.

9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Hindsight is an exact science so Mr Buchanan is hardly exhibiting any great insight.
