For what ever reason, I just started seeing a therapist. I felt there were some issues to address. While all and all things seem ok, the therapist seems to believe that many of my problems stem from my child hood and my relationship or should I say lack of relationship with my parents.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I was never one liked thinking about or talking about my childhood. I am kind of stuck I guess because every time I seem to have a problem it actually seems to relate back to that childhood. Any advice?

You are going to have to talk about it to get it out on the table. It helps trust me.

i have been to a therapist before - in fact i begged my parents to let me go to one, because i was so angry all the time- anyway i now want to be a therapist and i can tell you for a fact that almost every single problem in the world stems from a bad relationship with your dad. I don't know what makes that true but it just is, and talking about your childhood is the best way to find out what your problems are and how to fix them

i'm not saying that it is going to be the answer to all your problems, but opening up and talking about your childhood is the key. if you and your therapist seems to think that your problems are coming from leftover childhood problems, the best thing to do is to talk about those and get them in the open. once you do, it will be easier to get the resolved. it's going to be uncomfortable talking about it because not talking about it is one of your defenses. however, all the therapy in the world is not going to help you if you don't talk about what the problem really is.

You made the 1st move to improve your life but now you HAVE to open up and talk about your childhood (no matter how difficult it was or will be to discuss). Your therapist is a professional and can only help you if he/she knows what's really hiding inside of you. Good Luck and hang in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Therapy can be very difficult and sometimes you feel worse before you feel better. It's hard work but is soooo worth it when you get to the other side. Give it time.
