I signed up for beginner training at PetSmart for my 1 year old beagle rescue dog. Does anyone have any reviews of their progam? Just want to make sure it will be worth the money! Thanks!

It is not worth the money. I had my dog trained there, and then had to go to another trainer/behaviorist to fix what the petsmart trainer screwed up.

It is a great basisc training class and will be a great way for you to bond with your new pet. Working on training helps you and the dog to form a strong bond and teaches the dog to look to you for guideance. It is the best way to have a good relationship with your pet.
The classes are worth the money and good for a beginner to start with. If you like them you may wnat to go further in training and may look at other trainers or see what the trainer there has to offer.
Good luck and have fun with your new pet.

Well...I don't think it is worth the money, but I belong to a local training club & 2 breed clubs so I get 1/2 off my training classes.

Petsmart has MANY things in their favor:
The classes are small
They are inside so you don't have to worry about weather or darkness
They have lots of locations (at least in my city)
They have lots of classes

Have fun and good luck! Once you finish your training look into getting an ILP from the AKC and you can show your beagle in performance events. Rally is a lot of fun and any dog that has basic obedience training can compete.

it somewhat relies upon on the coach you get - i have taken my dogs to doggy, intermediate and stepped ahead training there and he's o.k. educated. With a good coach i ought to assert Petsmart training are large and a real good purchase compared to personal operating shoes. yet i have also had pals with undesirable studies with different Petsmart operating shoes. i ought to signify you bypass and watch a form for a even as - get a experience for a way the coach works, how experienced he/she is, and also talk with them slightly previously you sign up. At our Petsmart the operating shoes typically confer with ability shoppers who're determining no matter if to signal up. good luck.

Pet Smart is ok for the basics, but if your rescue already knows sit, stay, and come then it's a waste of time. I hope you asked to see the credentials of your trainer. PetSmart does not regulate who trains...

Their program is a good one for basic obedience. The key is to practice what you learn with your dog on a daily basis. Don't forget to have some patience as well, dogs do not learn over night, even though we wish that they could. Good luck and have fun.

All the classes are the same. They tell you what you could learn reading a book. The real results come from your commitment to do what they say.
