The hardest part is going to be breaking into the wall where the shower controls are. You need to chop that open enough to reach the existing supply pipes and the existing diverter valve. Look long and hard at that part of the project before you get started. Because after you are done with the plumbing you are going to have to put in backer board, and cement&grout tiles that match the rest of the tub area.

As far as the plumbing it is very simple.Once you buy the valve (and maybe some additional fittings to go between the pipes and the new valve)s you need to cut the existing pipes and then make connections to the new valve. If you have the tools and a little soldering skill you will be done quickly.

Piece of cake! First of all kill the main water feed for your house, it's located some where on your property. You may get lucky and discover shutoff valves inside the wall for your shower but dont' count on it :-). I normally just kill the main water supply, it saves time and cleaning up a mess if something breaks.

Removal of the old hardware is easy probably just a few screw hold that inplace. After you remove the old hardware clean the pipe threads very well and reapply pipe dope or some teflon tape make sure you wrap the threads clockwise with the tape.

The conversion is easy really, the hardware is just different, you're going from 3 separate inputs to a single input assembly. The new hardware has 3 inputs with a single control valve like a big ball control knob in the shower. They are pretty cheap too so most of the cost comes from the actual plumbing work if you paid someone to do it.

Good luck man hope it works out well!!

It would not be hard at all. Just buy it and follow the instructions. You would need to change the layout of the shower surround though. If you have made your own out of vinyl then you would just tear the old piece out and install a new one to the dimensions in the instructions.

UNless you are really good at this stuff it will require a plumber. YOU will have to tear out the all around the current control. Probably re plumb to fit the new control and then fix the wall.
