For diarrhea, you should give him pedialyte to make sure he is getting all the electrolites, etc that he is losing, but on top of that, give him Lactinex if he doesn't have a milk allergy. Sometimes it's difficult to find but it works wonders!! You would just ask the pharmacist for it (it has to stay refrigerated so you won't be able to find it on the shelf) and then just ask how often he should take it. My daughter is 14 months old and she takes it 2 times a day mixed with Apple sauce. I don't give her much apple sauce b/c I want to make sure she'll eat it all to get the medicine, then, I'll give her more after she finishes it so I know she had it all. It comes in granules and you just mix a packet it. You could also put it in milk or anything else. That works wonders for her! I gave it to her and it cleared it up within two days. I know that's not instant, but within a couple hours, it was already started to get back to normal (not to be gross, but it wasn't runny anymore...just...mushy). It totally cleared up within 2 days so it does work quickly without having to load up on a lot of medicine. She didn't have any side effects and there aren't any that I know of. I think it's just a high consistancy of milk that helps them...something.
One other thing her pediatrician said if she's not throwing up (because it COULD upset her stomach if she doesn't tolerate it) and if it's just diarrhea, to give her yogurt. He said that helps to thicken the stools and make her go less. I guess it's b/c dairy can make people constipated which could be good for diarrhea.
I will add one thing though. Lactinex is kind of pricey so have that in mind before you go out to buy it. It caught me off guard. I did buy it at this little "home town" pharmacy so that had something to do with it but it was $11 for 12 packets, which would be a 6 day supply if she took it twice a day. It was WELL worth the price!
Hope he gets better!

OMG.. Be careful what you read! Apple juice will not rid your son of diarrhea. If your son has diarrhea the best thing you can do is give him a visit to the Doctor. If it is a simple case of loose bowls caused by too much juice or something else that he may be eating then Bananas is a good counter active for that. But Diarrhea is usually a sign of something viral or a sickness. This requires lots of electrolytes and a visit to his pediatrician. If you still feel like it will pass I would suggest calling your local pharmacist they will give good sound advice on PROPER dosage and proper over the counter medications for children that age.

Just let it run its course. Make sure to give plenty of fluids. If you think he is dehydrated, take him to the doctor. The best way to tell if he is dehydrated is to stick your finger in his mouth sometime when he hasn't just had something to drink. You can tell if he's dehydrated because it will feel very dry- the tongue feels like sandpaper.
Make sure he drinks plenty. It is best to give him an electrolyte solution like Pedialyte. Juices and sodas can make his diarrhea worse. The less sugar he has in his drinks, the better, though of course at this point whatever he will drink give him. If he won't drink water or pedialyte straight, try mixing it with juice. Try to avoid apple juice- that's a bad one for diarrhea because it has so much sorbitol. White grape juice is better. If he won't drink any of that, jello water is yummy, too. You just mix it up like you're going to make jello but don't let it set- just have him drink it. Or if he will eat jello that counts as liquid, too, because it is liquid at room temperature. If you can make the jello out of fruit juice (not apple, though) and plain gelatin that is better than the jello mix, but if he won't eat that then the regular stuff works, too, whatever flavor he will eat.

first it's for more then 24 hiur consult a physician. The natural remedie is to make him drink rice water, boil some rice with water for 15 minutes, seperate the rice from the water, let it cool in the fridge. Because of the diarha he will need hydratation and the water of the rice have goods elements. But if you want you ould by pediasure products in pharmacy.

Diarrhoea is a sign of dehydration. DO NOT GIVE ANY MEDICATION UNLESS INSTRUCTED BY A DOCTOR!! Keep the child hydrated, pedialyte is great....or inexpensive ways..... lots of fluids like juice (that is diluted) , water, even Popsicles.

Children's Gravol is really good, but to be honest with you unless your child is throwing up as well I would just let the diarrhoea runs its course. Your son's body is telling him that there is something in there that it doesn't like and needs to get rid of it. Just keep him hydrated.
Stay away from fruit as it is a natural diuretic

Pedialyte is good, watch what he eats (the B.R. A. T.) diet is what my pediatrician would recomend. Barley, rice, apples, applesauce and tea. Either way, if its not gone in 24 hours get that baby to a doctor!

get a granny smith apple. what u have to do then is to get the juice from it. my mom would use the cheese grater but the part that has the bumpy side on it which then really scrapes the apple and the juice comes from it. give him the juice by spoon fulls it really does work for diarhea.
