i am hanging wallpaper this evening. however, there is a medicine cabinet in the middle of one of the walls, i wanna go ahead and wallpaper now, and take the medicine cabinet out later. If i make it so one strip can be taken out and replaced where the cabinet is, will i be able to fill in the hole, and just add a new strip of wallpaper in and not worry about it shrinking?? i have wallpapered before and love it. i hope this works, i just don;t wanna tackle the medicine cabinet yet. ( i just moved into a new place and want it to all be fresh) thanks.

Two ifs -
If the existing cabinet is surface mounted and if you are planning to replace it eventually then it will be easier.

If no to either of those I don't think you will get this section to matchup very well.

If yes to both then take the old cabinet off the wall. Do the papering as if it doesn't exist and then reattach it to the wall. When you get a new one take out and discard the old cabinet and put the new one there.

Wallpaper doesn't normally shrink. But, as for stretching, some thinner wall papers can be stretched if you are too abusive in your applying it to the wall. Trying to force a wet piece of paper into a corner instead of placing it into the corner for example will leave you with a skewed design, even though the next piece may butt against it perfectly. Patience in your work will alleviate any worries. Remember what mom said, "Haste makes waste."
